Yantai large cherries, also known as Western cherries, originate from western Asia and southeastern Europe. China first introduced them to the Yantai region in Shandong Province during the 1870s, thanks to Western missionaries, sailors, and overseas Chinese communities who brought the trees for cultivation. As the earliest spring fruit to hit the market after Chinese cherries, these large cherries are beautifully nicknamed "the First Bloom of Spring Fruits." Their fruits boast vibrant, glistening colors—deep red like garnet and golden yellow like creamy fat—making them not only visually stunning but also exceptionally nutritious. Packed with sugars, proteins, vitamins, and essential minerals such as calcium, iron, phosphorus, and potassium, they are truly hailed as "a gourmet treasure among fruits." Yantai cherries are renowned for their large size and delightful taste, and they hold up particularly well when stored at low temperatures.
