The Golden Delicious, also known as Jin Guan, originates from the United States. This variety thrives best in cooler, less-rainy regions, with an ideal annual average temperature range of 9°C to 11°C and annual rainfall below 700 millimeters. The fruits typically ripen in early September and exhibit characteristics of both high and stable yields. Golden Delicious apples usually weigh around 180 grams on average and have a long, oblong shape. In lower-altitude areas, however, the fruits tend to develop a more flattened, rounder form. The skin has a base color of yellow-green, turning golden yellow when fully ripe. The flesh is细腻 (fine-textured), with a predominantly sweet flavor and a delightful aroma—making it perfect for fresh consumption. Unfortunately, the fruit is prone to developing surface blemishes, and after storage, it may become slightly mealy. To address these issues, fully dwarfed and virus-free, rust-free varieties have been introduced. Since the 1980s, the Red Fuji variety—renowned for its vibrant red color, crisp, sweet flesh, and excellent storability and transportability—has steadily gained popularity. As a result, Red Fuji has gradually replaced Golden Delicious as the primary cultivated apple variety.
